一、含义不同
1.run for的意思是：逃跑。
2.run up的意思是：升起。
3.run after的意思是：追逐。
二、用法不同
1.run for
用法：for是并列连词，引导的是并列从句，表示原因的语气很弱，一般是对结果作出推断性的补充说明或解释，不表示直接原因，for前多加逗号。
2.run up
用法：up用作介词的意思是“向…上，向〔在〕…的顶上”。
3.run after
用法：after可用作连词连接一个时间状语从句，从句中一般用现在时表示将来。
三、侧重点不同
1.run for
解析：for用法较正式，一般用于书面语。
2.run up
